This set of pictures takes you back down from the summit of Urus, up and down Tocllraju, and part of the way up Ronrapalca!
Things to note
- pic 3 is Eric, a great guy from Moab Utah we met at base camp and again in another valley (not pictured here is his partner Pete)
- pic 4 is Kyle one of the guides for Camp 5 a group based out of Salt Lake, here he is generously giving us some tea and bread (while he ate French Fries and steak:)
- pic 5 is Jason, the other guide for Camp 5 and the gentleman who introduced us to the Simpson route on Ronrapalca.
- pic 6 is evidence of the extremely clean conditions we were living in at basecamp (note the cow pies scattered about the river)
- pic 7 and 8 were taken on a "rest day" at base camp.
- pic 11 is Andy hiking up to high camp on Tocllraju
- 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 are pictures of one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen.
- 21-29 are our adventures on Tocllraju including the trip up in the mist (22, 23, 24) the trip back down after the weather turned sour (25) the weather clearing up (26) at which point we decided to brave it once more, hopeing that the weather would clear up... it didn't (27), so we headed back down again (28) and rested at High Camp in the sun (29).
- packing up for and hiking up to Ronrapalca High camp (30-33, 36)
- High camp (38, 39, 40, and 41) and the route we took up Ronrapalca (42)
- Ryan crossing a snow bridge on Ron. (43)
- Sunrise from the route (44 and 45) (really amazing, but scanning doesn't do it justice)
- Ryan Hiking across a ridge that was rated TD (tres Difficile) and which eventually forced us to rappel back to the normal route and lose several hours of time in the process (46).
ENJOY!
