Earlier this week, Rachel and I went backpacking in the Indian Peaks.  We hiked in from the Hessie Trailhead, up past Devil's Thumb Lake to the continental divide.  From there we hiked south to King lake, and back down to the car.

  • Rachel, at the start of our backpacking trip in the Indian Peaks.
  • Hiking in, not too many wild flowers yet, be patient...
  • Monks Hood, gorgeous little sucker
  • More Monk's Hood
  • Columbine
  • Indian Paintbrush
  • Our main activity on the trail
  • Those same flowers, close up
  • Hiking
  • If you hadn't noticed, while we were hiking we say field after field of wildflowers
  • My favorite Columbine picture.
  • It was overcast for most of the hike in (which was OK as it was 95 in Boulder), but here was a glimmer of sunshine.
  • Reflections off a small lake.
  • More Indian Paintbrush, I love the deep red color on this one.
  • Some lake or other, apparently it was a pretty popular hike.
  • King's Crown
  • Ah, flowing water.
  • Flower.
  • Flower.
  • Flowers.
  • Flowers. (OK, I learned a lot of wild flowers, but clearly, I have a lot more to learn).
