Earlier this week, Rachel and I went backpacking in the Indian Peaks.  We hiked in from the Hessie Trailhead, up past Devil's Thumb Lake to the continental divide.  From there we hiked south to King lake, and back down to the car.

  • Flowers (the red is Indian Paintbrush)
  • I really should know what these are called...Bluebells?
  • Oh, I learned what these were called too... aren't they pretty?
      • Flowing water and flowers, how good can life get?
        • This was our camp the next morning. There are several small lakes around (notably Devil's Thumb Lake), and the ridge in the background is the continental divide.
        • Part of the view from camp.
          • Flowers even right by camp.
          • Asters of some sort I believe.
          • Getting ready to start the day.
          • Pumping water out of one of the small lakes. It was rather difficult to swim in seeing as how the water only came up to mid-calf, I made a go of it anyway. Rachel has the pictures of that.
          • Hiking up through more fields of flowers to the continental divide.
          • Flowers ahoy!
          • Need I say more?
            • So, how are we supposed to get up through all that snow?
